Working with a deep knowledge of soft tissue movement and meridian flow allows you to move beyond symptomatic relief and provide true, transformative Holistic care.
What will you Learn?
This course focuses on the collaboration of Eastern and Western aspects of the body, in and around the head, neck, and jaw. You will learn to navigate the complexity of physical structure and energetic channels to equip yourself with an effective treatment plan for the most common client complaints consisting of:
- Chronic Headaches (Tension and Migraine)
- TMJD & Jaw Dysfunction
- Restricted Range of Motion
- Upper Shoulder & Neck Tension
A Hybrid Experience
- Online Curriculum: Dive into the Western approach of the soft tissue's anatomy and structure, as well as the Eastern theory of mastering meridian pathways...all at your own pace.
- Practical Application: Join us in person to refine your palpation skills, perfect your assessment protocols, and practice advanced manual techniques of the head, neck, and jaw with support and guidance.
Online Lecture:
1. Clinical Assessment & OPQRST
Master the art of the intake. We move beyond "where does it hurt?" to a comprehensive OPQRST framework, ensuring you identify the onset, quality, and radiation of pain while maintaining a vigilant eye for Red Flags like acute trauma, whiplash, and disc involvement.
2. Western Approach
Gain objective clarity through physical assessment and structural comprehension:
- Visual Analysis: Learn to read the relationship between the chin, sternum, and ear-to-shoulder distance.
- Range of Motion: Conduct bilateral Active and Passive ROM tests for lateral flexion, rotation, and extension.
- Tissue Palpation: Identify "bound" tissue and heaviness across the SCM, scalenes, masseter, and the cranial bones (occipital, sphenoid, and temporal).
3. Eastern Theory
The head is the "uppermost extreme." You will explore how the Yang meridians unite and cross at vital points in the neck and face, learning how to clear stagnation and restore balance to the energetic body.
Learning outcomes:
The student will be able to:
- Identify pain patterns in the body associated with common issues/complaints in the head and neck
